As Director of Sustainability for NRG Energy, Inc. Laurel drives strategy creation and execution of company-wide sustainability initiatives. She also leads all voluntary reporting processes, including publication of the annual Sustainability Report and management of ESG related issues, to foster industry leadership and create shareholder value. Over the past 7 years at NRG she helped set industry-leading, science-based carbon reduction goals and led practical, innovative initiatives that address key societal and environmental issues.

Laurel is co-chair of the Voluntary Reporting Working Group within the Electricity Producers Research Institute’s (EPRI) Energy Sustainability Interest Group and represents NRG in the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB) Alliance, GRI Gold Community and CDP stakeholder
networks. Prior to NRG, Laurel spent time as a strategy and management consultant at Blu Skye, a boutique sustainability consulting firm. Laurel earned a Bachelor of Arts from Claremont McKenna College and has a Master of Business Administration with a sustainable business emphasis from San Francisco State University.
